About Me
Bio, experience, and a bit of the person behind the work.
Based in Cleveland, Ohio — Detroit originally. I've spent 13+ years in professional sports and entertainment production, starting in the Detroit market before relocating to Cleveland where I spent a decade as a lead graphics and display systems operator in major sports and entertainment arenas — running NBA, NHL, concerts, private events, and everything in between. At peak I was supporting over 200 events a year.
Today I work independently through Steve Does Visuals — taking on motion design, live event production, LED systems, and concert visual work across markets. Available for freelance, contract, and the right full-time opportunity.
Outside of work I'm a live-music person. Shows, festivals, records, and a lot of time with headphones on — punk, emo, and alternative mostly. I care more than I probably should about my top 10 lists. When I'm not at a show I like getting outside: walking the Metroparks, finding good coffee, staying moving. Before the arena gig I ran an entertainment blog called Nothing Original — music reviews, film takes, alternative rock coverage, and whatever else felt worth writing about. At its peak it was pulling 30,000 unique visitors a month out of the Detroit area. Shut it down in 2015 when the Cleveland chapter started. Still think about it.
When I'm not working I'm probably at a show, rewatching The Simpsons, or deep in a World of Warcraft raid. Jewels, the studio cat, serves as General Manager of Steve Does Visuals.
25+ seasons. 3,000+ events. NBA, AHL, MLB, and NHL.
I've worked as an LED technician, graphics operator, display operator, and AV integrator — with roles spanning broadcast and live graphics operation, video engineering, technical direction, and media server operation.
On the management side I've led technical and operations teams through hiring, training, budgeting, vendor management, and full project lifecycle delivery — from initiation through closure.

Honorable Mentions
Blink-182, Angels & Airwaves, +44, Boxcar Racer — every album, every era, no skip button. The band and everything that spun out of it made me care about shows, crowds, and what it feels like when the lights hit right. Still the first thing I put on when I don't know what I need.
